Wear2® Ecostitching Technology
This technology has been developed in 2014 at the initiative of the British government by various knowledge institutes and innovating companies. The goal was to create a solution for end-of-life textiles and to reduce the environmental pollution. Wear2® Ecostitching makes it possible to separate various textile types and accessories from each other, within 60 seconds, without damagingthe materials.
How does this clothing disassembly technique work?
Wear2® Ecostitching Technology uses Wear2® Thread combined with microwave technology. Wear2® Thread is an innovative, patented sewing thread that consists of recycled polyester in combination with an innovative core composition partly consisting of Copper Sulfide.These can be processed in a garment in exactly the same way as regular yarns. Microwave technology breaks the core of the yarn, guaranteeing complete disassembly at the end of its life. This technology makes the dismantling of clothing less labour-intensive, making the processing of large volumes possible and therefore considerably cheaper.
