Upcycling of fashion and casual wear

In the Benelux, 285 million kilos of end-of-life textiles are currently disappearing annually on landfills or in incinerators. In the current linear economy, products are bought, used and discarded, practically unacceptable in this time. In the circular approach, we reuse the textile fibres for new, high-quality garments or products. This is also called upcycling.

Sustainable disassembly of clothing

For the production of wool, cotton, acrylic and nylon fabrics, 100 million tonnes of new textile fibers are used every year. A shame, because in many cases clothing is reusable or recyclable. By using our award-winning Wear2® Thread, garments can be quickly disassembled, de- or rebranded or recycled.

How much CO2can we save together?

After oil and gas industry, the clothing and textile industry is currently the industry in which the largest CO2savings can be achieved. By taking action now, we can take major steps towards a circular world. In the Benelux alone we can save 685 million kilos of CO2with the application of WEAR2GO technologies. This is equivalent to CO2emissions when covering as many as 5,167 million car kilometres.

Upcycling and production costs

Environmental laws and regulations are being tightened and as a result, activities that pollute the environment will become increasingly expensive (for instance, the disposal of end-of-life products). In combination with the emergence of cost-effective technologies such as WEAR2™ Ecostitching Technology, end-of-life textile upcycling will even provide a significant financial return in the future. This makes making the right choice easier, logical and a financially attractive decision for clothing producers.
