Simple integration, how?
Integrating the circular Wear2® concept into your business process is possible without major adjustments or expensive investments.
For the further implementation and working method, the circular categories and requirements as laid down in the circular NEN textile standard NTA 8195 are combined with the advice from the Wear2Go Circular Protocol.
This protocol is driven by the conclusions and recommendations of the European INTERREG Project CircTex, which has been intensively worked on over the past 3 years through a collaboration of a number of specialized international companies with focus on innovative circular textile solutions.
New Circular design as a start
Wear2® Ecostitching Technology is easy to integrate into your own design and production process.
It is important to carefully select and construct the textiles to be used for your clothing on circular possibilities – circular design – so they can be reused in the same way at end-of-life.
This requires an easy and quickly disassembling of clothes by end-of-life of which the various fabrics can then be separated and sorted on textile monoflows – type by type. This is necessary because until today it is almost impossible to process mixed textiles in a high-quality way.
Yes, sometimes we can still make poles / shelves, garden chairs or flower boxes from mixed textiles, but do we not have enough of them here by now?
And it isn’t it a pity if expensive and hard-to-find textile materials are used for this destination?
Why is disassembly hardly done?
This disassembly and separation is currently almost impossible as this is largely done manually by scissor or cutting.
Simply too expensive and inefficient. Result: High-quality mixed textiles often end up in landfills or incinerators.
In the near future this will be banned and until then it will become even more expensive. With the European directive as a basis, the introduction of extended producer responsibility for textiles (UPV) in particular will bring about a significant change.
UPV makes textile producers responsible for the take back, reuse, recycling and waste processing of their products. This should ensure more reuse, less waste and less pollution.
Your production process remains unchanged
Wear2® Thread forms the basis and easily replaces currently used industrial sewing threads.
The choice of whether all current sewing threads should be replaced or just used in places where disassembly is required is up to the user.
Another consideration could be to use Wear2® Thread only as an underthread, although a prior test is recommended.
RFID and QR support
To enable efficient disassembly and meet all (future) transparency requirements related to textile materials, clothing produced with Wear2® Ecostitching Technology is equipped with a suitable RFID chip (link for consideration).
This chip communicates information from the Wear2® Platform to guide the upcycling process at end-of-life. For certain applications such as laundry, RFID tags are already regularly used, and there is a possibility that Wear2® information can be added to them.
If this is not the case, Wear2Go can put you in touch with producers and/or suppliers who are capable of supplying the right RFID or taking care of it completely.
The end-user also wants to be better informed about the sustainable qualifications of the purchased product, but especially advice and instructions on how to deal with it at end-of-life.
To this end, Wear2Go facilitates a QR code that can be personalized by brands and retailers with their own look & feel. This creates additional possibilities for creating marketing value and better communication with your customer.
Therefore, attaching a suitable QR label (link for consideration) for Wear2® Ecostitching Technology to the textile product is a fixed part of this concept.
Circulair textile protocol
For the further procedure and execution, the circular categories and requirements as defined in the circular NEN textile basic standard NTA 8195 are central.
This is combined with the advice from the Wear2Go Circular Protocol. This protocol is driven by the conclusions and recommendations of the European INTERREG project CircTex, which has been intensively worked on over the past 3 years by a collaboration of several specialized international companies with a focus on innovative circular textile solutions.
Wear2® Ecostitching Technology acts as a central pivot point in this, offering solutions and assurances for various circular “loose ends” with this Protocol.
To make an impact and actually bring about a change, the CircTex findings, applications, recommendations, and support are not only available to CircTex participants but also to all brands and retailers who want to make this protocol central to their chosen sustainable strategy.
